At a recent speaking engagement to a women’s group in a very male dominated industry, I heard some harrowing stories. Some companies wouldn’t let a woman in the door to sell their product. At other companies, the women had to walk out because of sexual harassment. They were thrilled to have the chance to come together, share strategies, and get encouragement from each other.

As we see in the news so often, women are still fighting battles every day against gender discrimination. We are still being harassed, and shut out. The women I met, who loved their jobs, and wouldn’t let sexism drive them out, remind me of an Eleanor Roosevelt quote, “A woman is like a teabag. She never knows how strong she is until she gets in hot water!
